City firefighters conclude Christmas gift giving

The City of Cape Town’s Fire & Rescue Service has completed the handover of hundreds of gifts to eight children’s homes and places of safety, just in time for Christmas.
The City of Cape Town’s Fire & Rescue Service has completed the handover of hundreds of gifts to eight children’s homes and places of safety, just in time for Christmas.
The service, with the generous support of Pick n Pay, beat Santa to the deadline.
Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security, Alderman JP Smith and Chief Fire Officer Clinton Manuel joined Fire & Rescue staff as well as Pick n Pay representatives, in distributing the last of the gifts.
‘It is the season for giving and our firefighters have once again shown they go well beyond the call of duty. They are on the frontline every day saving lives and property, but they are also a true embodiment of the Christmas spirit. At this time we wish all our residents a safe and happy Christmas and to celebrate responsibly. Our work to keep everyone safe throughout the festive season continues in the Safety and Security Directorate,’ said Alderman Smith.
The recipients of the gifts are children from Heaven’s Nest in Ottery, Habibia Children’s Home in Rylands, Heartlands Baby Sanctuary in Somerset West, Little Angels Home in Somerset West, Luthando Orphanage and Child Care in Flamingo Vlei, Rainbow of Hope in Goodwood, South African Children’s Home in Gardens, and St George’s House in Wynberg.
